What Life has Given to Me

There are ups and downs in each and every people’s life in the world. Neither anyone can say that he has not face any kind of difficulty in life nor anyone can say that he has not spent any golden moment in life. Life is the combination of both good and bad. It is the general rule of life. My life till now contains some good and bad moments. Being an introvert, I got too much mental pressure from the society. Some people always used to throw negative comments about my future. Instead of following people’s negative comments, I followed my own thoughts and believe. This path gave me so many achievements in my life. Today, I feel that my choice of believing in myself was not wrong. After passing HSC examination, I got admission in School of Law of BRAC University. My challenge in life started from there. Many people said that I am not going to be successful as a lawyer because of my nature. However, I continued my study and did not even think for a second to leave school of law. The greatest thing I got there was the discovery of my hidden quality. I identified that I am good in writing. Highest marks in first assignment of my first semester helped me to grow this belief in my mind. After that, I started to submit articles for the newsletters of School of Law of BRAC University. The good thing was that my articles used to be published in the newsletters of every semester. The most memorable moment for me is the article of newsletter for the ‘Women’s Day, 2014’. For that newsletter, I wrote and submitted an article with a headline ‘Status of women’. Such newsletter was distributed in the seminar specially organized for Women’s Day. However, one of the lecturers of School f Law of BRAC University personally came to me and praised that article. It was a great inspiration for me to continue writing. Moreover, I received 2nd prize in an essay writing competition organized by Writing Center of BRAC University. These are not only my achievements but also tools to build my confidence in writing. One of the parts of career in law is drafting. So, I think this confidence can help me to improve my career. Participation in extracurricular activities helped me a lot to get jobs. While studying in BRAC University, I used to participate in almost all kinds of extracurricular activities like cultural programs, workshops etc. These participations enriched my CV and as a result, I got part time job in call center of ‘ROBI Axiata Limited’. According to my observation, people hardly get jobs in such companies. The competitions in these kinds of companies are very high in selecting candidates. However, my CV was short listed while selecting for interview. Moreover, I got the opportunity to do my internship in a law chamber known as ‘Amir and Amir Law Associates’. I have not yet achieved the main goal of my life but I am quite successful in my life till now. In spite of negative comments from society, I have been able to run my life in a positive way. The reason is nothing but believe in myself. I have still a lot to do with my career and it will be possible to build a success career with the positive power of mind. So, I would like to give recommendation that there are three steps to become successful in life. The first is to set up the goal of life. Second is to believe in own self in question of capability to achieve the goal, no matter how difficult the situation is. Third is the determination to take every step to achieve the goal. The core point about success is to have a positive mind. The positive power of mind should not be lose even if the situation is not in favor. This power will make a way to reach the goal. In a sentence, it can be said that success is a combination of both positive mind and hard work. In the end, it can be said that life is all about positivity and negativity. Everyone needs to spend both good and hard times in life. One’s positive thought is enough to cope up with all kinds of situation. Circumstance supports those who support themselves.

Through the Eyes of an Optimist

I was going through a Dale Carnegie book yesterday when I came across the quote, “Two men looked out of prison bars; one saw the mud, the other saw the stars.” What I gathered from these sixteen words is that, at the end of the day, it always comes to perspective. A situation can change based on the way we see it. Dale Carnegie, the famous author of How to Stop Worrying and Start Living and How to Win Friends and Influence People saw optimism even in the worst phases of his life. Born in 1888 in Missouri, Carnegie saw poverty and abjection from a very early age. Born to a very poor and impoverished family, he had to wake up at 4 am every day to milk his parent’s cows and look after his father’s farm. In spite of so many hurdles, Carnegie managed to obtain education at the State Teacher’s College in Warrensburg and took the job of a salesman after finishing his studies. His first job was selling correspondence courses to ranchers, and from there he reached the point of making his sales territory of South Omaha, the national leader of the firm. But he quit his job after saving only $500! And he did that because he wanted to pursue his lifelong dream of becoming a lecturer. But life took him to a different destination after that and he ended up attending the American Academy of Dramatic Arts instead. From there he took up an acting career in New York City but found little success. When the production ended, he returned to New York broke and unemployed, and that was the staggering moment when he got the idea to teach public speaking to New York citizens. He arranged himself a teaching opportunity in return for 80% of the net proceeds. But he met little success in the way since he ran out of material in the very first session. However, he did not just stand there like a blank old chap but improvising, suggested that his students speak about something that made them angry. Whilst his students reshuffled their thoughts and sorted out what to say, Carnegie discovered that the technique made speakers unafraid to address a public audience. And from this 1912 debut, Carnegie tapped into the average American’s desire to boost their self-confidence and develop better self-esteem. By 1914, Carnegie began to earn $500 (about $ 11, 800) every week and this is how a remarkable man uplifted himself from such a meager background. My personal learning from this renowned personality is that, no matter wherever life takes us, we always hold the power to change its direction. And that goes for all of us; no matter how depressed, desolate or let down we are, we can always choose to look through the eyes of an optimist.

Humhum Waterfall

28/5/2014 I still remember the date because it was my first travelling with my friends toward Humhum. It was discovered in 2010. It is situated in the Razkandi reserve forest, Maulvibazar Sylhet district. 29/05/2014 we were 13 people in the morning sharp 9 started our adventure. We only knew that we have to walk and hike small, medium and sometimes big hills. But we didn’t realize how much horrifying it would be because one of my friends got injured and also for the bad weather condition. Because June is the season of rain in Bangladesh. We hired one guide who knew this area well. As we were excited so began with joy and a feeling of searching for diamonds, but soon we realize the journey will not be easy. We were entering in a jungle, the road was muddy, sloppy, and soggy. We were passing through very small lakes, but as speed accelerated we even found water, which was closest to our throat, the depth was that level. Another trouble was wormed, woodlice, thorn, snail. These insects were in our hands, socks and feet. That’s why we bought salt for protection. The worm was sucking our blood we noticed it later, but it was of no use because you don't know when they are entering into your body. After that we faced many hill tracks. As it was raining climbing was becoming very dangerous for us as well as difficult. The hills were like 6 storied building. We used bamboo to control our balance. We were somehow managed to go up, but when the time came to go down feeling was terrible. We have also seen many flat fountains and a bed of black stones. It was supposed to take 2 hours, but we spent 3.5 hours to reach our goal. After climbing the mountain when we were at ground, the ground was sometime hard sometime watery. Under the water, there were stones, bamboos. One of my friends feet stuck in the middle of the bamboo and her ankle injured. We were so close to our destination that we were feeling a cold breeze and a sound of water falling. But you know when God does something more vigorously he gives the finishing in a unique way. So the wrap up was little bit curvy. When we first saw the landscape after spent 3.5 hours we forgot our pain. I first saw in front of my eyes the natural beauty of the earth. As the day was ending the golden ray with little foggy environment makes the scenario more praiseworthy. After enjoyment it was the time to go back from Humhum. We were very happy, but as well as sacred how we will handle our injured friend she was bulky. It took almost 5-6 hours, returning to our resort. We faced same vertical-horizontal alley, the new addition was bamboo made thin bridge. We covered this kind of path 3 times and below this there was deep river. We heard the sound of hideous animal. Our support system was only that bamboo and mobile torch. By the grace of God, we reached safely. After a few days we saw a video of this this area covered by a travelling group. There they mentioned this is the park of panther, tiger, beer and many unknown noxious insects and animals.
